NEW 2020 full-day learning program
While we would normally be offering an After School Program, this year things will be a little different! Due to COVID-19, our members & families will now have Virtual Learning Schedules. This means the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill is here to help! We will be offering a Full-Day Learning Center. This program will run from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday - Friday. We will also offer before and after care for those that need earlier care in the morning, and later care in the afternoon. This program will allow us to assist members with their virtual learning schedules by providing computers, tablets, WiFi, quiet spaces, and homework aids.

Education & Career Development
Power Hour/Homework Help
Power Hour is coordinated by our Education Lead. Open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 –5:30 equipped with tutors from St. John’s Prep, Brooks School and Central Catholic. Students are able to begin and most often times complete their homework with the assistance of one on one tutors from students attending College-Preparatory High Schools. Members are able to comfortably complete their work in our Educational Center equipped with round tables and ample resources. Technology Center Our Technology Center open daily to allow members to discover the world of Technology, discovering the Internet and its uses, Microsoft Word, Excel and other various programs. All members will complete an Internet Safety course before use of the Technology Center is permitted. Career Launch Career Launch allows members to explore different careers and learn the employment process: beginning by looking for employment, filling out applications, resume building, interview processes. This program is geared towards teens 13-18 year old. After School Science After School Science meets Fridays at 5pm in the Learning Center. Students will discover the fascinating world of Science through weekly lessons and experiments. At the end of the ten-week program members will participate in a Science Expo where they can showcase their knowledge Khan Academy Club Khan Academy’s mission is to change education for the better by providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We believe that students of all ages should have free, unlimited access to the best educational content, and that they should be able to consume and master this content at their own pace. In addition, we believe that there are incredible opportunities to use intelligent software development, deep data analytics, and intuitive user interfaces to more effectively surface and present these educational resources to students and teachers around the world. Our library of content covers kindergarten to early college math, science topics such as biology, chemistry, and physics, and reaches into humanities with tutorials on economics, finance, music, philosophy, and art history. |
